On the last day of term, we did a performance of Jesus' journey to the cross.
The stations of the cross were read out and as a class we made reflections, did some acting and performed a reflective dance. We started with Jesus walking through Jerusalem and people had to wave palms singing hosanna to it represent Palm Sunday. From there we jumped to the garden of Gethsemane where when we saw Judas kiss Jesus on the cheek to show that this is Jesus.

We continued Jesus's journey with the crowd shouting "Crucify him!" when Jesus faced Pontius Pilate who was the governor at the time. This was the moment when Jesus was sentenced to death. As we went through the story of Jesus' journey to the cross, we sang songs and got everyone to think about what this meant and how certain people would've been feeling - for example Mary would have been distraught as her son was going to die. Jesus dying on the cross is an important part of our faith, as he died to free us all from sin. That's why Easter is so important to us. |
